Growing Up

Different stages of life come with peculiar responsibilities, needs and focus. Some people would say, ''Growing up is a set up.'' Is it? It depends on what angle we view it as this depends on a lot of things.
Growing up is beyond the peripheral, it’s even deeper than our ages and body changes. It is increase from deep within that brings forth the set and expected purpose of existence. Growing up is quite an experience with so many hurdles to cross; disappointments, victories, sadness, joy, failures and success. But all that we pass through should be catalysts towards making us better people. We had hurdles we jumped as kids and then as adult we have even bigger ones to cross and as the days and years go by, we face different challenges and choices.
The reason most people feel lost is because they have failed to discover their purpose in life as well as where their strength lies and then go for it. Without purpose discovery, you will keep living each day as it comes without any sense of fulfillment. It becomes a cycle and then you get bored and begin to wonder if this is what growing up is all about. Is it about getting good grades in school, graduating, get a good job, get married, have kids, work your ass out to enable you and your dependents survive. Do not get me wrong, all these are good, in fact very good but besides the norm, have you been able to find that purpose and live to fulfill it? So many people would one day sit on the porch in front of their homes when they are old and grey thinking of things they could have or wanted to do but due to one reason or the other they didn’t. At that moment, a feeling of guilt and regret come rushing in but the hands of time cannot be reversed.

As each day heralds, we age, new ideas are born and new opportunities spring forth.  We should know that the world and everything keeps evolving and growing including our body metabolism. One thing that may not be directly related to all mentioned above is OUR MIND. So imagine everything around you moving north while your mind remains at the same midpoint. The more things move, the relationship becomes inversely related. So as time moves, our body grows with it and we should endeavor to make a conscious effort for our minds to be at par or even ahead if possible. You do not want to get lost in the midst of all the bustle & hustle and end up wondering if this was what you bargained for.

Growing up is a conscious effort!

  1. God cannot be left out in purpose discovery. Even at that, we have to walk that extra mile by actually spending time reflecting, analyzing and building on our strengths. We all have something peculiar imbedded in us so it's up to us to turn that potential into purpose!
I would recommend you read 'Purpose Driven Life' by Rick Warren.

    Thank you!
